George Bronk Used Facebook to Hack into Women's Emails - Gather.com

George Bronk used Facebook to hack into women's emails – a charge to which he has pleaded guilty to. It is scary that this California man was able to use the information he got from the social network to hack into the accounts. Once he was in, Bronk sent nude pictures of the women to everyone in their address book. What a disaster!

Bronk, 23, victimized dozens of women in both the U.S. and England in this manner. He found the nude or seminude photos in the women's "sent" folders, which is scary. When he found them, he forwarded the embarrassing photos out to all their contacts.

Then he basically blackmailed the women into sending more explicit photos by threatening them with sending out even more photos that he had stolen. What a terrible crime! The victims described it as being like "virtual rape."

Bronk is facing a possible 6-year sentence for using Facebook to break into the women's emails. He pleaded guilty to seven felonies, and the sentencing should be on March 10. He will also have to register as a sex offender. Does 6 years seem like enough time to serve for this type of crime?

The important thing to learn from this is to work hard to protect your privacy. Pick security questions that you wouldn't post information about on Facebook. It is scary to think of all the terrible things people could do if they hacked into your email.
