Hu, Obama Meet Ahead Of Major China-US Summit - RadioFreeEurope/RadioLiberty

Chinese President Hu Jintao and U.S. President Barack Obama have met for a private dinner at the White House.

Hu arrived in the United States on January 18 for a four-day visit that is being called the most important trip to the U.S. by a Chinese leader in 30 years.

A more formal summit is scheduled for later today.

Obama is expected to press Hu to allow the Chinese currency, the yuan, to strengthen. Hu has said he does not think the yuan is undervalued.

Chinese and U.S. businessmen have already signed deals worth more than $8 billion.
