THE devastated girlfriend of murder accused Vincent Tabak vowed to stand by him yesterday as his family claimed he was being made a scapegoat for the death of Jo Yeates.

Tanja Morson, 34, was in shock after detectives charged the workspace expert with the killing late on Saturday night.

But she has been keeping his family back in Holland in touch with every development. And they say she will stand by him.

Dr Cora Tabak, Vincent's sister, said: "His girlfriend Tanja is upset and shocked.

"The rumours that they have separated are not true. They are still very much together. She's very concerned for him."

The Mirror revealed on Saturday that Tanja had spoken to police before her boyfriend was arrested.

But Dr Tabak insisted: "It is not the case she reported him to police. I believe she has spoken to him since his arrest.

VIOLENT

"We talk to her a couple of times a day. She is still very much part of the group of us supporting him.

"Up until now Vincent was very happy with Tanja and very happy living in the UK."

Public health adviser Dr Tabak, speaking from her home in Utrecht, Holland, said family and friends refuse to believe Vincent was capable of such a violent crime.

She said: "It's unbelievable. He is my little brother. I know him very well. He is innocent.

"The whole family were shocked. We're completely overcome. We can't believe it. Anyone who knows him knows he could never be a killer.

"He is very gentle and social. There is no aggressiveness in him in any way. He is a straight-forward and open person. What you see is what you get."

Tabak's brother, civil engineer Marcel said: "It is nonsense. He has been made a scapegoat. The police have panicked."

Tabak's mother Sonja insisted her son was acting "normally" in the week following Joanna's death, while on his Christmas break in Holland.

She added: "I am waiting for a call for someone to explain what is happening."

  1. The police and the Crown Prosecution Service deliberately set out to alienate Vincent Tabak's girlfriend by spreading unfounded rumours that they had split up, and that it was she who had "shopped" him to the police. It is amazing that such a respectable global firm as Buro Happold did not stand by their employee and point out that architectural consultants with PhDs NEVER commit murder.
