Murdered architect seen 'with two others' - Herald Sun

MURDERED British landscape architect Joanna Yeates' landlord said he possibly saw her leaving her apartment with two people on the night of her disappearance.

Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said that if the new final sighting was accurate, it would tie in with theories that the 25-year-old was killed by someone she knew and "would appear to be a key bit of evidence."

"The landlord of the flat Ms. Yeates shared with her boyfriend said he was parking his car outside the building, where he also lives, at around 9:00pm [local time December 17] on the night she disappeared.

He told police he saw three people leaving her flat, and one of them may have been Joanna Yeates," Brunt said, adding that the landlord did not remember whether the people were men or women.

It was previously thought that the last sighting of Yeates was at a local supermarket where she was recorded on CCTV buying a pizza after a night out with friends. However, it was later discovered that she also stopped at Bargain Booze on her way home to buy a small bottle of cider.

The independent charity Crimestoppers was offering a £10,000 ($15,400) reward for anyone who provided information that led to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Yeates' death.

Her body was found in Bristol, western England, on Christmas Day after disappearing eight days earlier, though she was not reported missing until two days later, when her boyfriend Greg Reardon returned home after a weekend visit to his family.

Police said he was being treated as a witness rather than a suspect.

Cops now believe her body was at the spot where she was found, about four miles from her apartment, for several days. An autopsy showed she died from strangulation, though police did not rule out the possibility of a sexual motive for her murder.

Her father, David Yeates, said after her body was found that "it was a relief to see her again. We [he and wife Theresa] just said, 'Welcome back.'"
