Sony files Restraining Orders against PS3 Hackers - Techtree.com

Sony has also issued an order of impoundment against the "hackers" responsible for breaching the PS3 game console security. These PS3 hackers are alleged to have "trafficked in circumvention technology, products, services, methods, codes, software tools, devices, component or part thereof, including but not limited to the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm Keys, encryption and/or decryption keys, dePKG firmware decrypter program, Signing Tools, 3.55 Firmware Jailbreak, and/or any other technologies that enable unauthorized access to and/or copying of PS3 Systems and other copyrighted works."

Geohot has been the accredited to be the first iPhone hacker to devise a jailbreak and is now getting quite prolific in PS3 HyperVisor OS security hacking. However, the latter work is a result of the exploits found by fail0verflow team that comprises of Sven Peter, Hector Martin Cantero and several others. Hector Martin Cantero goes by the name of Marcan on the Interwebs and is also credited for hacking Xbox 360 Motion controller - Kinect.
As of now, many are aware of the functionality of PS3 jailbreak and the package signing process. Even if Sony manages to take down the open-source tools, the code and method will continue to spread through private message boards.
