Woolgrowers plan a gift to suit a prince

With the so-called "wedding of the century" between Prince William and Kate Middleton only three months away, the hunt is on for suitable wedding gifts.

Australian Wool Innovation thinks it's found the perfect one.

It's asking Australian wool growers to donate a handful of wool, which will be blended into a Saville Row suit for the prince.

AWI chief executive Stuart McCulloch says it's a special way for Aussie farmers to share the big occasion.

"We know that he will probably get married in military uniform, but there's many, many functions around a celebration like that," he said.

"I suppose it's more about the gift, the gesture, than anything else.

"Whatever we gift to Prince William, we'll have those farm names listed, identifying exactly the farm that it came from."

To take part, woolgrowers have until February 10 to send a staple of their wool in a standard envelope, complete with name, property and email address, and the micron of the enclosed wool, to: Wool fit for a Prince, c/- AWI, Level 30, 580 George St, Sydney, NSW 2000.
