HP TouchPad Gets Official Release Date - infoSync World

HP today officially announced the U.S. release date for the upcoming HP TouchPad Wi-Fi tablet: July 1. Preorders for North America and Europe begin June 19, but will ship first to U.S. customers on July 1. In the following days, HP will begin shipments to customers in the UK, Ireland, France and Germany. Canadians will get the TouchPad in mid-July, with availability scheduled to follow later this year in Italy and Spain, as well as in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore.

HP TouchPad The TouchPad will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions, selling for $500 and $600, respectively. Optional accessories for the TouchPad include the HP Touchstone Charging Dock, the HP TouchPad Wireless Keyboard and the HP TouchPad Case (all sold separately).

U.S. retailers and commercial resellers for the TouchPad will include Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Walmart, Sam's Club, OfficeMax, Amazon.com, Fry's, Microcenter, other leading local and regional retailers, and HP's online stores. Specific pricing and availability for the TouchPad in Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom will be announced regionally. Details for Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore and Spain will be announced at a later date.

AT&T to Offer Connected TouchPad

HP today also announced that it will be partnering with AT&T to introduce a connected version of the TouchPad later this summer. The company will announce more details closer to release. AT&T recently released the HP Veer WebOS smartphone, so the carrier clearly plans to offer an extensive WebOS portfolio in the future.

"The platform's unmatched features and flexibility will continue to differentiate HP products from the rest of the market for both personal and professional use.
