The newest member of the royal family has inherited a few of the family jewels, as many who studied Duchess Kate's accessories over the past few weeks may have guessed. The Mirror reports that the diamond and sapphire earrings that Kate wore to Wimbledon a few weeks ago and in California are indeed one of Princess Diana's favorite pairs.

Kate re-worked the studs into drop earrings, adding a small personal touch to the classic stones. The earrings match perfectly with her sapphire engagement ring, which was also Diana's.

A few of the other family jewels that Kate wore on her big day are on display at Buckingham Palace for the next couple of months. The Cartier "halo" tiara, purchased by the Duke of York in 1936 for Queen Elizabeth (the current Queen's mother), will be available for guests to view, along with the matching earrings by Robinson Pelham that Kate's parents gave to the bride for the special event.
