Woods announced Wednesday that he and longtime bagman Steve Williams have parted ways, ending a 12-year run that included 13 of his 14 major championships.
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it's time for a change," Woods said in a statement.
"Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future."
The announcement did not indicate what triggered the separation. While Woods has been sidelined the last two months because of an injured left knee and Achilles' tendon, Williams took a fill-in job caddying for Adam Scott.
After missing the cut at the U.S. Open in their first event together, Scott tied for third at the AT&T National and 25th at the British Open.
Woods, who has played nine holes of competitive golf since the Masters, has given no indication when he'll return. The next tournament on his usual schedule would be the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, in two weeks in Akron, Ohio.
One week later comes the PGA Championship the season's final major to be played at Atlanta Athletic Club.
