The daughter of Col. Moammar Gadhafi gave birth to a baby girl in Algeria early Tuesday, just hours after fleeing Libya with her mother and other members of the elusive Libyan leader's kin, according to Algerian government officials.

While his family expanded abroad, Col. Gadhafi's more-than four-decade regime faced near extinction as rebels supported by forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance moved to encircle Libya's coastal city of Sirte, the leader's tribal home base and one of the last pockets of resistance.
