Google CEO Larry Page: Facebook doing a really bad job - Times of India

Google CEO Larry Page has, for the first time, openly taken a jibe at Facebook. The co-founder of the world's biggest search engine in an interview with technology magazine Wired said that the number one social network across the globe is doing a "really bad job with its products."

However, Page did not elaborate which products he was referring to or how Facebook is doing a bad job. While acknowledging that the website founded by Mark Zuckerburg is strong in the social sphere, he said he is happy with the progress of Google+, the search giant's own social networking site.

The interview was reportedly given before Facebook launched its new search tool termed Graph Search, which leverages upon the social data available with the website. Facebook does not allow search engines like Google to use its own data while compiling search results. Page said Google and Facebook are "actually doing something different" from each other.

Google+ so far has not been able to make its mark in the social networking space and does not have the kind of data that Facebook boasts of. However, Page said one company does not need to fail for the other to succeed, and both Google and Facebook can co-exist.
