Hundreds strip for transit trips as 'No Pants Subway Ride' hits Vancouver, Toronto - National Post

The semi-nude shenanigans of the annual No Pants Subway Ride hit transit systems across the world Sunday, with hundreds dropping trou for their commutes in London, New York, Vancouver and Toronto.

The pant-less flash mob hit Vancouver's SkyTrain at about 1 p.m. Sunday, adding some spice to the trips of unsuspecting SkyTrain riders. No-pants riders came to Commercial station fully clothed before stripping down for the ride. Transit security was on hand, but tolerant of the exhibitionist commuters.

In Toronto, on a mercifully warm January day, about 60 people stripped down for their trips.

Mexico City and London both drew crowds in the hundreds.

The ride, in its fourth year for both Vancouver and Toronto, is the brain child of New York's Improv Everywhere. "The mission started as a small prank [in 2002] with seven guys and has grown into an international celebration of silliness," the group says on its site.

"The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants do not behave as if they know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves" — nothing out of the ordinary except for the bare legs and underwear.

"I just tell people I forgot to wear pants," participant Hiroki Mori told the Vancouver Sun. "It's all for fun."
