Woman 'chucked baby in 50ft rubbish chute' - The Sun

A WOMAN tried to kill a newborn baby girl by hurling her down a 50ft rubbish chute, a court heard yesterday.

Jaymin Abdulrahman, 24, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of the six-day-old child — who was found inside a bin on the ground floor of a tower block.

The baby, who is still recovering from her injuries, plunged five floors from the Wolverhampton flats in September.

Officers arrested Abdulrahman shortly after they discovered the child, who was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Wearing a black dress, black headscarf and grey cardigan, Iraqi-born Abdulrahman spoke through a Kurdish interpreter during the 40-minute hearing.

As well as denying attempted murder she also pleaded not guilty to trying to pervert justice.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard the second charge was brought after she told police the child — who cannot be named for legal reasons — had been abducted.

Abdulrahman was remanded in custody until her trial in June.

A 32-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident remains on police bail.
