Caroline Wozniacki told a Danish newspaper that she and Rory McIlroy are still together, contradicting the most recent round of unsubstantiated gossip which has the sports power couple broken up.
As far as breakup stories go, this one was a doozy. This weekend, the Irish Independent reported that McIlroy broke up with Wozniacki because of a picture the tennis star posted to Twitter last month that shows McIlroy in an unflattering sleeping pose.

The paper quoted an unnamed source that said, "Rory was very upset by [the picture] and even Serena Williams pointed out – albeit in a joking way – it was a pretty mean thing to do."
Media outlets around the world ran with the story, despite the Independent's less-than-stellar track record of reporting the couple's relationship history. One month before the picture in question, the same newspaper had the couple on the outs. Those same unnamed sources were referenced in the August story and McWozzilroy had to publicly deny the reports.
This time, it was Wozniacki going solo with the denials. She talked to the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet on Monday. (Note: The quotes have been translated via Google Translate.)

On one hand, you feel for Wozniacki. On the other hand, when you court positive attention by, say, posting a sleeping picture of your golf-star boyfriend on Twitter, you have to expect the same attention when things aren't so rosy.
With both those things in mind, we all need to stop believing unnamed sources used in Irish tabloids. They may be right about Wozniacki and McIlroy one day. Today, apparently, isn't that day.
