Yahoo CEO apologies for bogus degree - Sky News Australia

Updated: 15:46, Tuesday May 8, 2012

Yahoo CEO Scott Thompson says he's is sorry for allowing an inaccuracy about his education to appear in his official biography, but not remorseful enough to heed calls for his resignation.

In a memo sent on Monday to the troubled internet company's employees, Thompson apologised for the uproar caused by the misinformation. Yahoo Inc provided a copy of the memo to The Associated Press.

The memo didn't offer any explanation why Thompson's bio has periodically listed a bachelor's degree in computer science that he never received.

Thompson's note of contrition came on the same day that an activist hedge fund that owns a 5.8 stake in Yahoo escalated its effort to oust the CEO for unethical conduct.

Yahoo's board is investigating the circumstances that led to the exaggeration about Thompson's education.

Trump orders Scotland nix wind turbines - Sky News Australia

Updated: 15:44, Thursday April 26, 2012

Property tycoon Donald Trump has told the Scottish parliament not to allow a wind farm he fears will spoil the view at his exclusive new golf resort.

In a typically blunt display, the New York property tycoon on Wednesday told an inquiry into renewable energy to stop the wind power efforts.

'Scotland, if you pursue this policy of these monstrous turbines, Scotland will go broke,' he said.

'They are ugly, they are noisy and they are dangerous. If Scotland does this, Scotland will be in serious trouble and will lose tourism to places like Ireland, and they are laughing at us.'

Trump says his resort should open on July 10.

Members of the committee are looking at how achievable the Scottish government's green energy targets for 2020 are.

UK cops: 2 held over body on Queen Elizabeth II's estate - Detroit Free Press

LONDON (AP) — British police say they have arrested two men on suspicion of murdering a Latvian teenager whose body was found on Queen Elizabeth II's rural Sandringham estate.

The decomposed remains of 17-year-old Alisa Dmitrijeva were found by a dog walker on New Year's Day in woodlands three miles from the Sandringham House residence where the royal family was spending the holidays.

Part of the nearly 31-square-mile estate 115 miles northeast of London is open to the public.

Dmitrijeva was reported missing from her home in eastern England in August.

The men, aged 28 and 31 and from the nearby Wisbech area, were being questioned Tuesday at a police station.

Tantrum PM says: 'Balls is an idiot' - The Sun

David Cameron reacted after being heckled by the shadow chancellor — then turned to Chancellor George Osborne and said: "I can't help it."

It follows a series of Commons outbursts from Mr Cameron who was accused of sexism after telling Labour's Angela Eagle "Calm down, dear".

He angered female MPs again by giggling when telling Tory Nadine Dorries he knew she was "extremely frustrated".

He recently said he wished Mr Balls would "occasionally shut up and listen to the answer" after more heckling and caused a stir by telling Labour's Dennis Skinner, 80, to collect his pension. He apologised for that comment yesterday.

Mr Cameron was ordered to withdraw his remark to Mr Balls by Speaker John Bercow.

A Labour source said: "He's increasingly losing his temper because he's increasingly losing the economic argument."

Teenager guilty of conker killing - The Press Association

A 15-year-old youth is facing a life sentence after being found guilty of stabbing a student to death in London in a row over conkers.

The youth was found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering architecture student Steven Grisales, 21.

Mr Grisales died last August after he went over to remonstrate with youths throwing conkers still in their spiky husks.

He was walking to Silver Street station, Edmonton, north London, when he was attacked in College Close.

The youth, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was remanded in custody to be sentenced next month.
