THE man whose car was rolled upside down by an amorous elephant feared his "time was up".
John Somer was driving through a game reserve in South Africa when a bull elephant called Amarula started rubbing against his Volkswagen Passat.
John, 66, and his friend, Carina Lowers, were trapped inside as the animal flipped the car on its roof. They had to wait for him to walk away.
John, from Cork, Ireland, said: "He was agitated and had wet patches down the inside of his legs.

"Then he started to rub himself against the car, breaking the wing mirrors and cracking windows.
"When he began to tip the car over I thought my time was up. It was strange to think I would be crushed by an elephant."
Luckily, the animal's passion wore off and the pair were rescued by rangers in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. John added: "I am very grateful."
