Prince Charles is concerned about Prince William and Kate's recent tour of North America, the Mirror reported Sunday.

The Duke of Edinburgh allegedly told his aides that any serious reasons for the royal newlyweds to tour were overshadowed by too many photo opportunities. He also decried the media's non-stop coverage of the 11-day trip.

The intense focus on the couple's glamourous image and Kate's wardrobe during the tour makes Charles worry that more serious work being done by other royal family members - and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 - will be overlooked.

Royals author Phil Dampier told the Mirror that Charles might be miffed at the attention his son is receiving because his own Canadian tour in 2009 generated so little media excitement.

Do you believe William and Kate are overshadowing other royals? If so, how? Was there too much coverage of Will and Kate's Canadian tour? Share your comments below.
