Queen attends church ahead of Diamond Jubilee - ITN

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh took the cold and snow in their stride on Sunday to attend church on the eve of the Diamond Jubilee anniversary.

Her Majesty greeted well-wishers after the service at West Newton Church in the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, shaking hands with children and accepting small gifts, including flowers, pictures and sweets.

She then attended a short Sunday school class with children nearby.

The Monarch's Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated on Monday - Accession Day - when her reign reaches the 60-year milestone.

However, the day is far from a celebration for the Queen, as it also marks the day her father George VI died.

Her Majesty usually spends the day privately, but has organised two engagements for Monday, including watching a play about her reign put on by nursery school children.
