You know how occasionally toy manufacturers will produce a "lil'" version of a popular line of dolls or action figures? That was my first thought when I spotted Demi Lovato in this Barbarella-goes-native get-up by Falguni and Shane Peacock at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards: Oh, Simon Cowell has commissioned a mini-me version of Paula Abdul! Even Katy Perry would think that's a lot of look, hon.
On the bright side, Taylor Swift continues to break out of her pretty-little-princess package. Okay, she's wearing a pale pink chiffon creation from Maria Lucia Hohan, but check out the cut on that bodice! That's as close as Miss Swift comes to being nasty.
Zooey Deschanel's Monique Lhuillier was a bit expected — retro silhouette, check; cobalt blue, check — but the blue leather belt added a bit of edge, and standard Zooey Deschanel is still 35 percent more interesting than what's worn by most starlets. Finally, how cute did Carly Rae Jepsen look on the red carpet in that palm-print tuxedo jacket and mini? (Can't say the same for the purple romper she wore to perform "Call Me Maybe" at the end of the night, though.)
