Naomi Watts looked every inch a princess on Monday, as she channeled the late Princess Diana in eerily perfect hair and makeup on the set of her new film.
Watts wore her hair short and blond in Diana's signature style, dressing up in evening wear and pearls to complete the look.
The actress has made the transformation to play Diana in the upcoming film "Caught in Flight," now being shot in the UK and due to hit theaters in 2013.
"It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role - Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen," Watts said in a statement in February, when she got the role.
The film is expected to portray the last two years of Diana's life before her death in August of 1997, focusing on her romance with the "love of her life" Dr. Hasnat Khan, according to IndieWire.
Khan will be played by Lost actor Naveen Andrews, who praised Watts as perfectly cast for the role.
"I don't think anyone else could have done it - there's no one else," Andrews has said of his co-star.
Watts stepped in to replace Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain, who was previously attached to the project. Chastain is well known for her roles in "The Help," "Tree of Life" and "The Debt" last year.
"Caught in Flight" is helmed by German director Oliver Hirschbiegel, who also directed the Oscar-nominated film "Downfall," about Adolf Hitler's last days.
"I am delighted to have such a truly exceptional actress who embodies the warmth, humanity and empathy of such a global icon as Princess Diana," Hirschbiegel said of Watts in February.
