Arrest of UK teen over Facebook photo of burning poppy causes outrage online.

Police in Kent, United Kingdom arrested a 19 year-old man Sunday after he posted a photo of a burning poppy on his Facebook page. Poppies are used to commemorate British soldiers who died in war, and on Sunday the UK observed a national day of "Remembrance" on the anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The man was kept in custody on suspicion that he violated the country's "Malicious Communications Act", which criminalises electronic communications that have the "intent to cause stress or anxiety".

As news of the arrest spread online, so did outrage over police actions. Netizens used the hashtag #poppycock to criticise the arrest:
