I have a feeling that the market in Denis MacShane anecdotes has peaked, so I'm going to offload some stock.
A few years ago, I was skiing with some Swiss and British MPs, including the Euro-fanatical Member for Rotherham. One afternoon, I foolishly attempted a steep jump, which left me with a black eye and a cut.
'What happened to you?' asked the Swiss MPs, observing my bloodied mien at the end of the day.
'Oh, I ran into Denis MacShane, and we had a bit of a disagreement about whether Britain should stay in the EU. You should see the state I've left him in'.
'Ah, ja, the British sense of humour! Ha, ha!'
Although I didn't know it, Denis had in fact had rather a serious fall and, a few minutes later, was carried past us, bandaged and unable to walk. The expression on the faces of the Swiss MPs as they looked from him to me and back again was delightful.
Now that he has resigned as an MP, who will the BBC find to defend Brussels on air? Seriously who?
