Turkey Plans To Create TL-Zone As Alternative To Eurozone
BAKU (Azerbaijan), Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Turkey plans to create Turkish lira-zone as an alternative to Eurozone, Azerbaijan's Trend news agency reported, quoting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying during his official visit to Germany.
Erdogan said that a number of European Union (EU) countries have not joined the Eurozone and have not suffered as a result of it.
"Great Britain has not joined the Eurozone and the country's economy is quite stable," he said.
"British authorities advise us not to join the Eurozone, but create Turkish lira-zone," he added.
The Prime Minister said that Turkey has been thinking about this issue for a long time, adding that the EU must reconsider its monetary policy.
Eurozone official currency is the euro.
