The rescue effort resumed at 8am today and took more than four hours, with crews entering the bushland by foot and by helicopter before finally retrieving the body.
Police said the death was not suspicious but a report will be prepared for the coroner.
"It seems very likely that he fell accidentally," said a spokesman.
The bushland trails around Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains are popular with day trippers from Sydney, particularly for the waterfalls surrounded by forests and sheer cliff faces. Several people have fallen to their death in the area.
