Kate sees her Royal cupid wed - The Sun

THE Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise appearance at yesterday's wedding of the man said to have saved her and Wills' romance.

Just hours after Kate watched new hubby Prince William take part in his first Trooping of the Colour she attended the marriage of pals Sam Waley-Cohen and party organiser Bella Balin.

Jump jockey Sam was labelled the royal matchmaker after he helped Wills and Kate get back together in 2007 following a brief split.

Kate, who was joined by younger sister Pippa, happily chatted with friends and villagers outside St Michael and All Angels Church in Lambourn, near Hungerford, Berks, before the 50-minute service.

The future Queen, who drove herself to the service, had changed after appearing on the balcony at Buckingham Palace and was pictured wearing a sleeveless black and white dress.

Sister Pippa wore an ill-fitting lime green dress coat over a dark dress with black hat.

The bride and groom were later spotted leaving the church in a sports car strikingly similar to the Aston Martin Volante that Prince William took Kate for a spin in following their wedding at Westminster Abbey.

It was at a party at Mr Waley-Cohen's family's 17th Century mansion in Oxfordshire in June 2007 that recently-split William and Kate were seen in deep conversation, sparking rumours that a reunion could be on the cards

Just weeks later the pair were spotted aboard a yacht off a private island in the Seychelles.

Kate and Sam's close friendship was confirmed in 2008 when she attended a charity roller disco he had organised, famously wearing a green sequinned halterneck top, tiny yellow shorts and pink legwarmers.

He is the son of businessman, racehorse breeder and trainer Robert Waley-Cohen, nephew of the theatre owner and producer Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen Bt, and grandson of Lord Mayor of London, Bernard Waley-Cohen.

The 28-year-old is a part-time businessman and English National Hunt jump jockey and attended 27,000 a year St Edwards school - Teddies - in Oxford.

He came second in the 2011 Grand National and has also built up the Portman Healthcare chain of dental practices since he started the business in 2009.
