A 73-year-old man will appear in court on Monday charged with murdering his wife who suffered from Alzheimer's.
Pensioner Keith Rumbold was arrested on Thursday when police discovered his wife Shirley's body at their north Wales home.
Paramedics alerted officers to attend the couple's bungalow in The Meadows, Prestatyn, after being called out to deal with Mrs Rumbold, 74.
Her husband will appear at Prestatyn Magistrates' Court.
The couple's family issued a statement saying: "Shirley had suffered from Alzheimer's for several years and the family would appreciate privacy at this sad and difficult time."
It is understood that a post-mortem examination revealed the provisional cause of death to be asphyxiation caused by strangulation.
