Rumour: Windows 8 To Have SMS, Geo-Location - Techtree.com

Windows 8 leaks are pretty normal these days. According to Redmond Pie, a tech enthusiast named Thomas Hounsell has dug deep into the latest leak by reverse-engineering the code of certain files. He has posted the following findings on his Twitter account.

Rumour: Windows 8 To Have SMS, Geo-Location

As you can see in the image above, there might be a provision for sending SMSs in the yet to be released OS. It might sound weird to send an SMS from a PC, but there is no reason why a Windows 8 based tablet or netbook shouldn't have this feature. If you relate this to the recent Microsoft-Nokia deal, the next Booklet 3G might well have an SMS feature.

Microsoft might also implement geo-location in the forthcoming Windows. This feature will allow applications to detect the computer's location (only if the user allows it to). This feature will at least save us from the annoyance of selecting the time zone.
It is interesting to see the number of features Microsoft wants to offer with its upcoming OS. The company has said that a single version of Windows 8 will take care of tablets, netbooks, and desktops. This means that the installation disc will contain all the features, out of which users can conveniently select the features of their choice. For now, this is also helping enthusiasts reveal hidden features by digging into a single version of the Windows build.
