Director Guy Ritchie arrived at the premiere with his partner Jacqui Ainsley, who showed off her post-baby figure after giving birth to the couple's first child.
Madonna's ex-husband looked dapper in a grey suit while Jacqui looked vamp with her hair swept back in a chic ponytail and sleek suit.
Film director Ritchie however feels Downey Jr is the perfect man to play Sherlock Holmes.
He said: "There are a lot of correlations between Sherlock Holmes and him, they both sort of dance on that thin line between madness and sanity and there is no other American male actor I know that has the drawl so perfect, a flawless English accent.
"I can't think of anyone else who could have played Sherlock, that's him."
Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows is released on December 16.
