CYCLE yobs who shot a girl of five were chasing a rival gang after ambushing them in a pub as they watched the England v Ghana match.
Last night a lad aged 19 was arrested over Tuesday's South London horror, which left little Thusha Kamaleswaran and a shop assistant fighting for life.
The three pursuing savages - one thought to be just 13 - wildly fired two shots into the store as two of the fleeing footie fans cowered behind shelves.
One bullet hit Thusha in the chest. The other smashed into the nose of Roshan Selvakumar, 35, as he worked in the Stockwell Food and Wine shop.
A youth worker at anti-gang charity Kids Company told how the gun teens pedalled from nearby Brixton to a Stockwell pub where their rivals were watching the 1-1 soccer friendly at Wembley.
The man, 40 - called Junior - said: "Two boys decided to run down the road but were chased. They ran into the shop and tried to throw bottles at the pursuing youths."
Thusha was visiting her aunt and uncle, who run the store, with her mum, brother aged 12 and three-year-old sister.
Last night her family kept a vigil at her hospital bedside after three emergency operations to save her.
Relatives of fellow Sri Lankan Roshan, who lived above the shop, did the same.

Yesterday, one of the intended targets - another lad of 19 - went to police, sickened by what had happened. And a 50,000 reward to catch the gun gang was put up by the Association of Convenience Stores and Crimestoppers.
Up to 50 gangs operate in the area and openly brag on websites - including the gun-toting Grind and Stock, Original Criminals, Tell No One, and All About Money.
