FBI updates wanted list: bin Laden "deceased" (Photo) - Seattle Post Intelligencer

With Osama bin Laden's death, the FBI updated its most wanted list Monday morning to reflect his condition -- "deceased."

The notorious terrorist landed on the list following the 1998 attacks on the U.S. Embassies at Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. Those attacks killed more than 200 people.

Bin Laden was indicted for his role in planning the attacks and then added to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

Following the Sept. 11 attacks, intelligence agencies learned that the attacks were carried out by bin Laden's terrorist organization. In October 2001, his name was added to the U.S. Department of State's Most Wanted Terrorists List.

Bin Laden remained on the FBI with little change -- except for the amount offered as a bounty -- until Monday morning when news of his death, announced by President Obama on Sunday night, prompted the change.
