The Poker Face singer toppled media mogul and TV presenter Oprah Winfrey from the top spot after notching up around 90 million US dollars from her world tour, digital downloads and other Gaga merchandise, including the MAC make-up, Monster headphones and Virgin Mobile phones she promotes in her videos.
Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber made his debut on the list in third place, thanks to his concerts, music sales and the 3D documentary film Never Say Never.
"Gaga is there, not just because of the 90 million US dollars she earned with a monster tour, but also because of her 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers - aka Little Monsters - who helped move one million digital downloads of her recent single Born This Way in only five days," Forbes.com's Dorothy Pomerantz said.
Stars closer to home who made the top ten on the list include Sir Elton John in fifth position and Simon Cowell in ninth spot. Irish rockers U2 took fourth place.
