My colleagues Hiroko Tabuchi, Keith Bradsher and Matthew Wald report on the front page of Wednesday's Times on a critical failure that led to the explosions at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, after the earthquake and tsunami in March.
As Martyn Williams, a Tokyo-based technology correspondent, reports on his blog, Tokyo Electric Power Company, the plant's operator, released new video of conditions at the facility in Fukushima on Tuesday.
The video, which runs over 13 minutes in length, was posted on YouTube by a video blogger who uploads all of the footage posted on the press page of Tepco's Web site to the video-sharing site. That blogger's YouTube channel now forms a useful archive of video of the damaged plant.
The latest footage (embedded at the top of this post) was filmed on May 6 and begins with images of the buildings housing Reactor No. 1 and Reactor No. 2 (a detailed shot list is available on the Tepco press page).
Last week, Tepco released this video, showing the pool containing spent fuel rods in the damaged building around Reactor No. 4, which appears to show debris, including a ladder, in the pool:
