Software 'boosts congested WiFi network performance by 700 per cent' - Telegraph.co.uk

When the team switched on WiFox, however, the team saw a dramatic improvement in performance, ranging from 400 per cent with around 25 users to 700 per cent with 45 users.

"One of the nice things about this mechanism is that it can be packaged as a software update that can be incorporated into existing WiFi networks," said Arpit Gupta, a PhD student in computer science at NC State and lead author of a paper describing the work.

"WiFox can be incorporated without overhauling a system."

The team will present their research paper at a conference in France next month.
