By TOM McTAGUE TAXPAYERS are being made to pay for a terror suspect's family visits after he was kicked out of London for public safety.

Home Secretary Theresa May was ordered by the High Court to pick up the bill for the £40 trips after the man, known as CD, was banished from the capital to live in a "Midlands city".

Security services claim he was a leading figure in "a group of Islamic extremists based in North London" who planned a Mumbai-style terror attack on the capital.

The suspect, a joint UK-Nigerian citizen, could return to London next month, when the High Court rules on upholding the control order used by the Home Secretary to ban him.

Mr Justice Simon said: "The reason CD's family have to travel has nothing to do with them."

Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said watering down control orders would mean CD could not be banned.
