Iranian parliament shrinks ties with Britan - Xinhua

BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran's parliament has passed a bill to shrink the country's diplomatic ties with Britain. It requires Iran's Foreign Ministry to reduce its links from ambassador level to the level of charge d'affairs within two weeks.

The bill also says the Iranian government should reduce economic and trade relations with Britain to the lowest level, but they can revert back to normal if the UK ends its "hostile" policies towards Iran.

The lawmakers' motion follows the British government's political and economic pressures against the country. They include the recent move to cease business relationships and transactions with the Central Bank of Iran.

Iranian banks play a crucial role in providing financial services to individuals and entities within Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
