Lennon's security lockdown - The Sun

NEIL Lennon's lawyer last night slammed the online yobs who have targeted the Celtic manager's missus and five-year-old son in sinister web rants.

Lennon, 39, has had bullets and a fake nail bomb sent to him by post in a string of death threats following recent explosive Old Firm showdowns.

But now internet louts have posted the address of the Hoops boss along with snaps of his partner Irene McCloy, 34, and their lad Gallagher in sickening calls for Lennon to be killed.

Top lawyer Paul McBride QC and Lennon's agent Martin Reilly have demanded the authorities act and hunt down the culprits.

Mr McBride - who claims to have found about 30 websites with threats against Lennon - said: "One had his address on it and pictures of his partner and his young child. That is disgraceful.

"Some of them say kill him, some of them say stab him, some of them say shoot him. He's had bullets sent to him, he's had a nail bomb sent to him.

"He has a panic button in the house and he is the subject of 24-hour surveillance with a Celtic security guard accompanying him during the day.

"He's under the kind of supervision the American president has."

Mr McBride added: "If the police are quickly able to catch paedophiles on the internet and extremists threatening to blow up things why can't these people be identified?"

The panic alarm is linked to a police station near Lennon's home in Glasgow's west end.

And soccer agent Reilly revealed fears for Lennon's family's safety has reached such a pitch that Irene is taken to safe houses while the Celtic gaffer stays at hotels with his team for away games.

Reilly said: "The safety, most importantly, is not just Neil, it's Irene and the wee fella too, and his mum and dad and family back home in Northern Ireland.

"Neil was at a hotel the night before games and Irene had to be moved to safe houses and put under 24-hour police surveillance."

Lennon and his family have suffered abuse while out in Glasgow. He was beaten up in a street attack in 2008.

And in January we revealed furious Irene rounded on two neds who taunted her other half with sectarian abuse as the couple took little Gallagher on an outing to the King's Theatre in the city.

Reilly said the exasperated family are running out of places to enjoy a quiet, social life.

He went on : "If we go out on a Saturday night then we go to places where people won't give him any hassle - but we're running out of places.

"It seems to be wherever we go there's always problems for him."

We told on Saturday how the Celtic manager was on the brink of quitting as the fallout from last week's Old Firm shame game hit boiling point.

He and Rangers assistant boss Ally McCoist were involved in an angry exchange after the Hoops' 1-0 win at Parkhead that saw both condemned by politicians, police and footy chiefs.

In the aftermath of the powderkeg match, a fake nail bomb was addressed to Lennon at Celtic Park.

It was intercepted by cops at a sorting office in Saltcoats, Ayrshire. In January, bullets were sent to Lennon in the post.

This week First Minister Alex Salmond chaired a high-level summit to tackle the problems surrounding Old Firm games.

But critics slammed the meeting as a waste of time.
