SALLY Bercow has reactivated her Twitter account, after closing it when she incorrectly linked a Tory peer to child abuse allegations, and in a separate incident named a schoolgirl protected by a court order.
Mrs Bercow, wife of Commons Speaker John Bercow, had deactivated her account, but has now reopened it, writing on the site:
"Humbly reactivating account onLevesoneve *grabs tinsel & mince pies* coz learnt lesson, miss Twitter & will not screw up again. Hello!
The former Tory politician, Lord McAlpine, was falsly implicated in the North Wales child abuse scandal during a Newsnight broadcast at the beginning of this month.
A number of Twitter users, including comedian Alan Davies and George Monbiot, a columnist for the Guardian, mentioned the peers' name following the broadcast.
On November 4, Mrs Bercow posted: "Why is Lord McAlpine trending? *innocent face*."
Having already become embroiled in one row, Mrs Bercow then implicated herself in another by tweeting the name of a girl who allegedly ran away to France with a maths teacher.
She only deleted the tweet two hours later, despite repeated warnings from journalists on that she was breaching a court order.
Earlier this month, Lord McAlpine reached a 125,000 settlement with ITV after Phillip Schofield brandished a list of names and handed it to Prime Minister David Cameron during a live interview asking him to investigate them further.
The peer was also awarded 185,000 by the BBC following the botched Newsnight investigation into the alleged child abuse.
Last week, his lawyers confirmed they were still pursuing damages from Twitter users who wrongly tweeted or retweeted the libellous allegations.
