Jealous gardener admits crime of passion after killing British lover - The Times (subscription)

The son of a British barrister who was shot dead at the family's Turkish villa by their gardener described yesterday how he pleaded with the gunman to stop his attack.

Catherine Anne Bury, 56, was shot by Veli Acar, with whom she was having a relationship, after he broke into the family's property early on Monday morning.

Her son, Alex, 24, and mother Cecille, 87, were also shot and injured.

Mr Acar, 46, had been arrested by police on Saturday after threatening to kill the family during a violent argument the previous day. As Ms Bury celebrated her 56th birthday
