Britain's Queen Elizabeth to visit Croke Park - RTE.ie

The second day of the Queen Elizabeth's state visit will see her call at several venues in Dublin, including Croke Park and a state dinner at Dublin Castle.

Road closures in the city are expected again today as thousands of garda continue to police the visit.

The Queen, who stayed at Farmleigh overnight, attended an historic wreath laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance yesterday.

During her first engagement of the day Queen Elizabeth will have a bird's eye view of Dublin.

She will be given a windows tour of the city at the Gravity Bar in the Guinness Storehouse this morning.

The Queen will also hold a private meeting with Taoiseach Enda Kenny at Government Buildings, before meeting the Cabinet.

She will then lay a wreath during a 30-minute ceremony at the Irish War Memorial Garden in Islandbridge.

At the request of President Mary McAleese, the GAA will host the Queen at Croke Park.

She will be entertained by the Artane Band and will meet four players in the dressing rooms during a tour of the stadium.

Traffic disruption will continue and the N4 into the city from the M50 will be closed from 8am, while Thomas Street, James's Street and Jones's Road will be closed from 9am.

The North and South Quays and areas around Merrion Square will be closed at various times today. Rolling road closures across the city can be expected.

The disruptions can be expected up until late tonight as the state dinner is held at Dublin Castle.

British Prime Minister David Cameron will also be in attendance at Dublin Castle tonight.

Tnaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore has said the visit of the Queen shows both countries are coming to terms with our 'complex history'.

Mr Gilmore said today's visit to Croke Park is not just about history, but also about culture.
