Katy Perry and Rihanna rock out at Coachella music festival - The Sun

Bajan singer Rihanna was performing with DJ Calvin Harris at the Californian event when she decided to pull her famous friend on stage with her for a cuddle.

Wearing tiny studded denim shorts, a midriff-baring 'Peace' top, sunglasses and a 'Boy' cap, 24-year-old Ri-Ri was at her flesh-flashing, trashy best.

Later in the day she was seen with the words 'Thug life' written across her tummy in pen while smoking a brown, naughty-looking cigarette.

Katy, 27, chose a more lady-like festival look than a previous transparent number, opting for a floral sequinned dress and showing off her new long black-and-blue hair.

The girls made the most of the festival buzz and spent time raving.

Rihanna even got on a male friend's shoulders to get a better view.

The Twitter-obsessed pair have of course been keeping followers up-to-date with their festival shenanigans, especially Ri-Ri.

Not-so-shy Rihanna posted pictures of herself showing off her legs in her hotpants around a pool, and later giving everyone a cheeky glimpse of her backside.

But one pic appeared to be revealing too much as she posted one sat on her friend's shoulders with her thighs gripped around his shiny head.

Rihanna later wrote: "I had so much fun with your f***ing fanz tonight! Diz hoodrat $kabii @katyperry also crowd surft n ATE my A$$ during my show."

Meanwhile, Katy tweeted her love for dead rapper Tupac whose face appeared as a hologram during a set.

She wrote: "I think I might have cried when I saw Tupac. #coachella."

Also at the three-day festival was Disney actress Vanessa Hudgens who was joined by her 20-year-old boyfriend Austin Butler.

The brunette, 23, spent time smooching with Austin and getting into the 60s swing of things outside.

She tweeted before: "Going to Coachella this weekend! My favorite music festival, it's so much fun!".

Actress Emma Roberts, 21, was also at the festival in hippie-chic floral hotpants and a tiny vest.

Former party-pro Lindsay Lohan, 25, rocked up in a lace and white mini dress, sheer white shirt and yellow Ray-Bans with a male friend.

Singer Florence Welch looked very much a 60s chick in a long floral dress.

The 25-year-old caught the eye of Katy Perry who she had a chat with.

Of course no party was complete without Paris Hilton.

The 31-year-old tweeted while dancing: "Raging in the Saharah Tent to my favorite DJ."

She posted a photo of herself as 'Rainbow Bright' with multi-coloured hair and a glowstick.

But it wasn't just the youngsters who were up for some Woodstock-esque partying.

Gerard Butler was seen bumping and grinding with a brunette.

The 42-year-old Scot was seen dancing closely with the mystery woman.

With everyone in good spirits, there's obviously nothing like a bit of "Coach-ella, ella ella, ay ay ay."
