Ken blundered for the second time when he dismissed the role of mayor the post he held before Tory Boris Johnson.
He said: "I'm not persuaded of the mayoral system as it concentrates a lot of power in one person's hands."
Boris leapt on the gaffe, saying: "If Ken wants to withdraw his candidacy, now's the time to do it."
