LIVE: Deadline day - follow all the breaking news as the transfer window closes - Daily Mail

18.52: BREAKING NEWS: Michael Essien is NOT in Chelsea's squad tonight... Could he be on his way to Arsenal?

18.48: BREAKING NEWS: Daniel Sturridge is on the bench tonight for Chelsea for their Super Cup match against Atletico Madrid... surely he won't be joining Liverpool then?

18.42: Colin Young reports that Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has told strikers Fraizer Campbell, Connor Wickham and Ji-Dong Won to fight for their club futures, if he decides to keep them. O'Neill has so far rejected loan offers for all three frontmen he inherited from Steve Bruce but has not ruled temporary deals with Championship clubs as he assesses his squad after the closure of the transfer window. 'There have been tentative inquiries for quite a number of my boys but nothing has developed,' O'Neill said. 'I would not want to leave myself short although we have a number of strikers now with Ji coming back. I am happy we have the people but a number of players I think could benefit from going out on loan. I have to temper that with what is here.'

18.38: BREAKING NEWS: England international Jay Bothroyd is set to join Sheffield Wednesday on loan from QPR. I'd expect to see several more departures from Loftus Road before the window closes given how bloated their squad now is following a dozen arrivals this summer.

18.34: Rafael van der Vaart - who today left Spurs in a 10.2m deal - has spoken of his delight at 'coming back home' after rejoining Hamburg four years after he left the club for Real Madrid. 'It feels a bit like I am coming back home,' he said. 'Everybody knows that I still have a strong bond with Hamburg and it is a compliment when a club wants you every year. This season was the right time.'

18.27: All is quiet from the western front, but I'm sure that won't remain the case for long. There are no doubt lots of 'I's being dotted and 'T's being crossed right now.

18.16: Here's a reminder of a few of the deals we're waiting to be completed... both Hugo Lloris and Joao Moutinho are locked in talks with Spurs after the club agreed transfer fees with Lyon and Porto respectively. Spurs are also attempting to hijack Liverpool's bid for Clint Dempsey, while the Reds are also pursuing a loan move for Daniel Sturridge. Expected more deals from Man City too, who are looking to tie up deals for Matija Nastasic and Javi Garcia. And, of course, there are bound to be a few surprises!

18.09: DONE DEAL: Former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel has returned to Ajax on a free transfer after his contract at Hoffenheim was cancelled. Another player who hasn't yet lived up to his hype.

18.07: DONE DEAL: Gael Kakuta has joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan from Chelsea. His career hasn't take off as it was expected too...

18.00: Norwich City have reportedly made enquiries for Stoke's Cameron Jerome and West Ham's Carlton Cole as they look to bring in a striker before the deadline.

17.22: Colin Young is reporting that Jermaine Jenas did not turn Sunderland down, because they were never interested in him in the first place. 17.14: More from Pablo Hernandez on his club record move to Swansea... 'I want to thank the club and Michael Laudrup for making me feel like a very important player. Now I want to repay that faith on the football field. Swansea is a very important football club and will only keep getting better. They were a good side last year and look even better so far this season. I watched the game against West Ham on TV last week and they played some good football. I also liked the atmosphere; the fans are good and together with Michael Laudrup's presence it's an exciting package.'

17.11: DONE DEAL: David McGoldrick has joined Coventry on loan from Nottingham Forest until January.

17.06: John Edwards reports that Nicklas Bendtner's move to Juventus appears all cut and dried after he was booked to appear on their in-house television station early Friday evening. The former Arsenal striker has spent the afternoon undergoing a medical at the Turin hospital Juventus always use for checking prospective new signings and will be taken from there to the club's television studios for a 7.30pm (UK time) interview with their media staff.

17.05: Hernandez sounds delighted about his move to Swansea. 'I am very happy. It's my dream, to play in the Premier League,' the winger has said. Michael Laudrup has made some very shrewd signings this summer to replace the likes of Joe Allen, Scott Sinclair, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Steven Caulker.

16.54: Reports are circulating that Nottingham Forest are trying to thrash out a deal for Southampton striker Billy Sharp. Sharp only joined the Saints in January, but he has moved down the pecking order this summer with plenty of new arrivals at St Mary's.

16.51: Colin Young is reporting that Jermaine Jenas is likely to opt for a move to Fulham after turning down Sunderland.

Earning his Spurs: Lloris looks set to sign for Tottenham

Earning his Spurs: Lloris looks set to sign for Tottenham

16.49: Dnipro midfielder Derek Boateng has revealed that his potential move to Fulham has hit a snag. The Ghanaian has tweeted: 'Have problems with move to @FulhamFC Deal in doubt now'.

16.45: It seems we've hit that stage in the day between fees being agreed for players and medicals and paperwork being completed. Among those we are waiting on are: Stephane Mbia (Marseille to QPR), Javi Garcia (Benfica to Man City), Matija Nastasic (Fiorentina to Man City), Hugo Lloris (Lyon to Spurs) and Joao Moutinho (Porto to Spurs).

16.41: Riath Al-Samarrai reports that Swansea are suffering a bit in the market this afternoon. A deal for Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha doesn't appear to be going anywhere and sources at Swansea fear Aston Villa will beat them to the signing of Crewe captain Ashley Westwood.

16.36: John Edwards reports that Nir Biton's hopes of landing a dream move to Tottenham have been dashed by red tape. The 20-year old Israel midfielder flew to London with FC Ashdod owner Jacky Ben-Zaken but was unable to secure a work permit ahead of the transfer deadline.

16.35: Spurs fans have been having a laugh at the expense of Maicon on the news of his arrival at Man City (see picture below). Maicon was, of course, famously roasted by Gareth Bale in two Champions League ties two seasons ago.

16.21: Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Liverpool's interest in taking Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun back to Anfield on loan. You can understand why some deals are left late, but others - like that one - baffle me. Why not get it done earlier in the summer? Still, it makes for good fun for us!

16.19: BREAKING NEWS: Man City have agreed a 24m deal with Benfica for midfielder Javi Garcia. The Spaniard's deal will go through tonight subject to a medical.

Fee agreed: Javi Garcia (left) is set to join Man City in a 24m deal

Fee agreed: Javi Garcia (left) is set to join Man City in a 24m deal

16.18: Colin Young reports that Middlesbrough hope to have seen off interest in striker Marvin Emnes from Swansea City. Boss Tony Mowbray has said: 'I am not anticipating any late calls unless that is a tactic from certain clubs. I don't think it's a wise tactic because I would suggest we won't be selling as he is a player we would need to replace and it is getting late in the day.'

16.13: Brendan Rodgers has just been quizzed by the press on several players who have been rumored to be joining Liverpool. He gave a flat 'no' to suggestions of Theo Walcott and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar signing, but was happy to discuss the talents of Daniel Sturridge. Hmm...

16.09: Southampton boss Nigel Adkins has confirmed that the club are trying to rush through a deal for Gaston Ramirez. The club having been chasing the Uruguayan for weeks and Adkins has confirmed they are 'very, very close'.

16.04: DONE DEAL: Colin Young reports that Hull have signed midfielder Stephen Quinn from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee. The Irishman signs a three-year deal at the KC Stadium.

16.02: Well, what a day it's been so far. I can't remember a deadline day being this frantic. The combination of the Euros pushing deals back and the Olympics pushing the start of the season back has led to a busier than ever deadline day.

Done deal: Maicon is unveiled as a Man City player

Done deal: Maicon is unveiled as a Man City player

15.58: Right, that's it from me. My estimable colleague Joe Ridge picks up the baton from here to take us through to 11pm. Bye.

15.54: Stoke have made an inquiry about Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson. Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is ready to listen to 8million offers for the England international, who has already turned down a move to Fulham.

Liverpool are not prepared to allow the former Sunderland midfielder to leave on loan, which rules out a move back to Wearside.

15.49: Former boyband member Anthony Costa (of Blue fame, remember?) is at Spurs Lodge, hanging around with the fans at the gates of the training complex. Cringe.

15.48: Hugo Lloris is at Spurs lodge, I repeat...

15.46: Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has confirmed Joey Barton's arrival depended on Stephane Mbia joining QPR.

Barton has passed a medical and took part in a light training session this morning.

15.39: More news for you QPR fans: Stephane Mbia has touched down in London and is now traveling to a secret location in Surrey to complete his medical. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's heading to Tesco in Camberley. I could be wrong.

15.30: DONE DEAL: Richard Wright has joined Manchester City.

15.23: DONE DEAL: Dimitar Berbatov is a Fulham player. The Bulgarian joins the Cottagers on a 5million deal, four years after signing for Manchester United for 30.75m.

On the move, Berbatov said: 'I'm delighted to have signed for Fulham and I look forward to playing under Martin Jol once again.

'As soon as I was aware of Fulham's interest my decision to join was an easy one to make. I'm impressed with the set up here and the people have made me feel welcome. There is a close and personal feel around the Club and I can't wait to get started.'

15.16: Here's some very big (potential) news: Chelsea's hopes of signing Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle before the transfer window closes are fading and so they are planning to turn their attention to former Tottenham target, Marseille striker Loic Remy.

15.12: Gary Neville's two pennies (via Twitter, bien sur): 'What the transfer deadline gives you is a clear indication of which are the badly run football clubs!!!'

Over to you, Tottenham.

'Bothroyd, 30, had several Championship clubs chasing him including Brighton but Wednesday manager Dave Jones is favourite to sign him before tonight's 11pm deadline with QPR paying a portion of the striker's 40,000-a-week wages.'

15.04: Big news for Manchester City fans and this could be the biggest deal of the day: Manchester City and Benfica have come to agreement over Javi Garcia - in the region of 24million.

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY: 8 HOURS TO GO

14.56: Roque Santa Cruz (remember him?) is undergoing a medical at Malaga.

14.53: Newcastle defender Paul Dummett has travelled to Scotland for talks over a loan move with St Mirren boss Danny Lennon. The Wales Under 21 defender, who can play at left-back or centre-half, could be included in the Saints squad to face Aberdeen tomorrow.

14.47: Hull City winger Jordan Stewart has joined Championship rivals Burnley. The 21-year-old former Manchester United junior, who has played 50 games for the Tigers, has been allowed to leave by new boss Steve Bruce for an undisclosed fee. The initial deal at Turf Moor is for a loan until January.

14.43: There's mixed news from Swansea. The proposed deals for Feyenoord's Cabral and Westwood of Crewe have fallen through, though there is still some hope at the Liberty Stadium that the latter can be resurrected.

Valencia winger Hernandez, meanwhile, is having his medical and international clearance has been granted for Itay Shechter to join on loan from Kaiserslautern.

14.36: Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has launched an attack on Tottenham chairman Daniel levy over the transfer of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to north London.

Aulas said: 'The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in these 25 years.

'We had email exchanges which have been contradicted, so that's made it very complicated. It's difficult. The Tottenham board's theory is to explain that the economic market is very hard and so we have to get used to renegotiating.'

Brinkmanship is the name of the game in that deal.

14.32: Chelsea may have their work cut out prising Andre Schurrle away from Bayer Levekusen, after sporting director Rudi Voller reiterated, as recently as Thursday night, their determination to hang on to him. Voller insisted Chelsea would be wasting their time launching another bid and that Leverkusen's Germany forward would be staying put.

14.29: Alan Pardew has ruled out any last minute deals. The Newcastle manager, who held talks with chairman Mike Ashley after securing his side's place in the Europa Cup group phase, is satisfied his squad can handle a sustained European campaign.

14.15: Aston Villa are set to make a renewed bid for striker Christian Benteke, after his club Genk stepped up their quest for a suitable candidate to replace him.

Genk are believed to be closing in on Mons marksman Jeremy Perbet, last season's Belgian League top scorer and a target for Everton and Leicester earlier this year.

Should they land him, they would listen to an improved Villa bid for 21-year old Belgium striker Benteke, after turning down an initial 6million offer that was exclusively revealed in Sportsmail earlier this week. Villa are desperate for more firepower and made an unsuccessful pre-deadline approach for Fulham's Clint Dempsey.

14.10: Rafael van der Vaart has agreed terms with Hamburg and the two clubs have agreed a fee. All done now, bar the shouting. All the details on that move can be found here.

'Our defence looked a little suspect against Liverpool, but Kolo Toure didn't really help that... I wouldn't mind seeing his name on the transfer list. Why do we have so many left backs, but not right backs?'

13.07: Danny Rose is Martin O'Neill's fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Carlos Cueller, Louis Saha, Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson. O'Neill is now hoping to secure a permanent deal for Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

12.38: Steven Nzonzi's agent spotted entering Stoke's training ground. How many midfielders do they want? Nzonzi is desperate for a new club after a series of fall-outs with Steve Kean at Blackburn last season.

But he must surely look at a Stoke midfield already populated by Glenn Whelan, Dean Whitehead, Rory Delap, Wilson Palacios, recent signing Geoff Cameron and, imminently, Charlie Adam and wonder exactly where he might fit in.

Full details on that switch can be found here.

TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY: 11 HOURS TO GO

Few things we're waiting on: Everton to confirm Bryan Ovideo deal, Sunderland are very close to taking Danny Rose on loan and Jermaine Jenas on a permanent deal and Rafael van der Vaart is heading to Germany for a medical ahead of returning to Hamburg. City slickers: Maicon and Nastasic are two players Mancini is hoping to sign

10.43: Chris writes: 'I think Michael Owen has, by and large, conducted himself well throughout his career but today's twitter activity does have an air of desperation around it.

'Even so still think he has a lot to offer. Actually think he could do a job at Liverpool!!'

Worth noting that Owen is a free agent, he can sign for a team whenever he wants - he isn't constrained by the 11pm deadline.

10.22: Swansea fans, listen up: It has been confirmed to Sportsmail that a Blackburn bid for forward Luke Moore was rejected this week; Leroy Lita is likely to join Crystal Palace on loan next week; promising right back Curtis Obeng is going out on loan, most likely to Fleetwood Town.

Meanwhile, Garry Monk is wanted by Bristol City and Stephen Dobbie is the subject of interest from Middlesbrough, Bristol City and Burnley.

10.18: James Keatley writes: 'We need a full back and an attacker, we only have Cisse and Ba to rely on up front. Shola Ameobi is a useful substitute at times but due to injuries he's never going to hold down a first team place.'

Come on now, James, most teams would love to have 'only' Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse to rely on.

  2. I would like to bring this to the notice of the public about how i met Anz Jackson Financing PLC after i lost my job and being denied loan by my bank and other financial institution due to my credit score. I could not pay my children's fees. I was behind on bills, about to be thrown out of the house due to my inability to pay my rent, It was during this period my kids were taken from me by foster care. Then i set out to seek for funds online where i lost $3,670 that i borrowed from friends which i was rip off by two companies. Until i read about: anzjacksonfinancingplc@yahoo.com where i was granted a loan to pay up my debts and to start up a business. You can as well give them a call or text at: +18437769340. Why am i doing this? I am doing this to save as many that are in need of a loan not to be victim of scams on the internet.
