It's normally down to the public to vote for their favourite X Factor contestant, but this year one of the hopeful's has taken matters into their own hands.

Christopher Maloney, 39, has admitted that he votes for himself every week and would do so even more if he had more credit on his phone.

Speaking about the rumours, the Liverpudlian admitted: 'I have voted for myself a few times.

'So has everyone else – I doubt my calls have made much of a difference...If I had more credit on my phone I'd vote more.'

However, it's not just Christopher who has admitted to the calling and texting, but also behind-the-scenes staff too.

According to The Mirror, one said: 'I've seen him dialling and redialling his own number over and over again. It's sad really but he wants it that much that he is spending a fortune.'

But although Christopher is insisting that all of the contestants are voting for themselves, a source has actually stated that they are infuriated with his behaviour and that production executives have branded him 'desperate.'

'You can't outlaw this sort of behaviour but it leaves a very sour taste. It's against the spirit of the show,' the source said to the newspaper.

Christopher, who is the only contestant left in Gary Barlow's over-28 category following Kye Sones' exit last weekend, may be starting to panic as judge Louis Walsh slams his performances every week.

Even Kye couldn't hide his true feelings about Christopher and has slammed him for voting for himself.

When asked why he thought the cheesy singer hadn't been in the bottom two yet, Kye told The Sun: 'God knows. He must have an expensive phone bill!'

He also went on to say that Christopher hadn't struck up much of a friendship with any of the other contestants.

'All of us have got really close and then you've got Chris. We've been a really strong group and he's been an outsider — and that's nothing to do with any of us lot,' he said.

'He's very tactical. There are two different people — one when cameras are there and one when they're not there.'

Go away. Please. And stop banging on about "me Nan"!!!

It's your last week Christopher - thank the Lord! - Emma , Newcastle, 06/11/2012 16:57 Hear hear Emma ! He did himself no favours with his singing let alone this article and admissions to voting for himself ! DESPERADO ! Cya ! And sadly you are one act who is not going to go anywhere post this competition. Only pub acts / cruise liner entertainment and the likes.

Ummmmm, just 'cos it's topical today, do you think that Barack Obama voted for MItt Romney?

He's really starting to get on my wick now.

Hmmm if this is to be believed then he really is as tragic and desperate as I suspected....

This story has been 'leaked' deliberately to turn the tide of public opinion against Christopher. Believe me, Simon Cowell will have a winner in mind, so he'll have started manipulating the media machine to ensure his favourites are in the final. As for insipid Kye, his rantings about Christopher are a severe case of sour grapes. Christopher's not my cup of tea, but Kye's cheap mud slinging and telling tales about him prove the right man went on Sunday.

Looks like they are really determined to ensure Gary has no acts left by the end of this week! It's time we were allowed a vote on how good the judges are.

IT SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED

When he auditioned, he was '34'! Funny, he is 39 now! Makes up his age, makes up that ridciulous nervous jitter. Get rid!

really dreadful with his pathetic show of nerves each week.
