This open submission and invitation exhibition includes the work of 14 local or international artists.

Planned to coincide with the exploration of Lake Ellsworth in Antarctica the work explores the twin themes of scientific exploration and the physical landscape of Antarctica.

The images cover many aspects of the subject from the barrenness of its surface to the landscape of the sub-glacial underworld.

Some artists focus on the practicalities of scientific endeavour while others address the extreme conditions of life there and still others reflect on the human condition when faced with loneliness and thoughts of mortality.

One artist, Jana Winderen, weaves together sound recordings taken beneath the ice and reveals a little of the complexity and strangeness of that hidden world.

In an entirely different approach altogether, Damien Flood has created 'fantastical landscapes' which truly reveal his curiosity about exploration while Ruth le Gear, who recently completed a residency in the Arctic, is attracted by the scientific methods of investigating non-physical phenomena.

A very interesting exhibition with some beautiful imagery and that lovers of art should really see.
