Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder has told X Factor winner James Arthur to go see his dentist.
Ryder, who had notoriously dodgy teeth, was speaking to The Sun when he gave the advice to Arthur to sort his own gnashers out Simon Cowell will be relieved that he never suggested that the 'Impossible' singer record his debut album in Barbados.
Asked if he was aware of the contestants in this year's X Factor, Ryder said:
I've seen quite a bit. I quite like that James Arthur kid. He's good but he should see my dentist.
The Happy Mondays frontman also had a few kinds words to say about ex-X Factor contestants One Direction. "Harry Styles and that?" said the singer. "Came runners-up, didn't they? Bunch of kids having a great time. Brilliant."
James Arthur won the 2012 X Factor last weekend. Arthur, from Middlesbrough, beat competition from both Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney in the final weekend, which ran for four hours of television across Saturday and Sunday night (December 8, 9), earning a contract with Simon Cowell's SyCo in the process.
His debut single 'Impossible' is top of the iTunes Chart and is the favourite to be Number One in the Official UK Singles Chart this Sunday. 100% of the proceeds from the single will go to the children's charity Together For Short Lives.
