Kvitova upset in 2nd-round loss to Robson - NBCNews.com

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -Former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was upset by 18-year-old Laura Robson 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 in a second-round Australian Open match that ended in the early hours of Friday morning.

No. 8-seeeded Kvitova was leading 3-0 in the third set before Robson broke her three times to take a 6-5 lead. Kvitova broke back and the set stayed on serve until Robson broke again in the 19th game.

Serving for the match a second time, Robson made no mistake and held at love to advance to the third round.

Kvitova, once ranked as high as No. 2, won the 2011 Wimbledon title and reached the semifinals at the Australian and French opens last year.
