Gerard Houllier slams Ian Holloway's double standards after public criticism ... - Goal.com

Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier has snapped back at Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, accusing him of double standards over the Charlie Adam transfer saga.

Houllier, who has recently fallen out with Steve Bruce over the acrimonious signing of Darren Bent, believes that the Blackpool boss has been singling him out for unfair criticism, with other managers not coming under attack despite making offers for his club captain.

The Frenchman feels that he has done nothing wrong in making enquiries for Scotland international midfielder Adam through the same channels as other clubs.

Houllier is angry that Holloway distanced Kenny Dalglish from the offer made by Liverpool, yet did exactly the opposite when talking about Villa's bid, insinuating that the offer hadn't been done in the correct manner.

"I noticed this weekend that I was not treated the same way as my friend Kenny Dalglish," Houllier told reporters on Monday.

"Ian said it must not come from Kenny when Kenny makes a bid, it comes from the club.

"He called me all sorts of things because our club, officially, did the right things, and went to them. He went back to the press having a go at me."

The Frenchman, who has been busy in the transfer window so far, having also secured the £6 million transfer for Jean Makoun from Lyon, believes that he is an easy target for managers.

"I was stunned, but hey, easy target, as I've said," he continued.

"I'm not happy with him, I'm not happy with what he said. I think it's very, very unfair."?
