THE Queen is to visit Australia in October, according to UK reports, and her plan could override Prince William and Kate Middleton's intended trip Down Under.
A spokeswoman for Governor-General Quentin Bryce said yesterday "she couldn't give any information at all" about the trip.
London's Daily Mail, however, was reporting that Queen Elizabeth planned to fly to Perth for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October on what was described as a "gruelling, week-long trip".
Her husband, Prince Phillip, who turns 90 in June, would accompany her.
While royal watchers were hoping Prince William and Kate Middleton's first official foreign tour after their wedding would include the CHOGM conference, the newspaper reported that palace courtiers were concerned the couple's presence "could overshadow the monarch's vital work".
A visit by the Queen to the CHOGM conference is expected to heighten security fears.
