Winstone Fronts Bbc Documentary About Dangers Of Oral Sex - Contactmusic.com

The actress daughter of movie tough guy RAY WINSTONE is warning young people about the dangers of contracting a potentially cancerous virus through oral sex.

Jaime Winstone has filmed a documentary for the U.K.'s BBC Three channel to highlight the spread of human papillomavirus (HPV) and advise how to prevent it.

The Made in Dagenham star, 25, decided to get involved in the programme, titled Is Oral Sex Safe?, and learn about the various types of cancer after losing a close pal to the disease.

She tells BBC Radio 1, "At first I wasn't sure I wanted to do a documentary about oral sex, but, at the time, my friend was diagnosed with cancer, a different kind of cancer, but it did get my curiosity going and... I wanted to know a bit more about 'The Big C'.

"It's all to do with bodily fluids basically, any oral sex, normal sex, kissing, anything where bodily fluids are exchanged and HPV is a virus that lives on your skin. It could be in your mouth or on any other areas of your body... And if it's not protected or vaccinated, it can turn cancerous.

"You can't screen for it so, by the time it gets to a dangerous point, it's kind of a lump in your throat and that's the only time you can operate."

But Winstone insists she didn't make the film expecting to put a stop to oral sex among youths - she just wanted to make them aware there is a vaccine available to prevent contracting the virus.

She says, "It's not realistic to think people won't have oral sex, but it is realistic that there is a vaccine that can prevent people from getting this HPV-related oral cancer, so, for me, I would just say, 'Get vaccinated or get yourself checked'."

Is Oral Sex Safe? is set to air in the U.K. on Monday (10Jan11).
