Rowland 'happy to be back in UK' - The Press Association

Kelly Rowland has jetted back to the UK and vowed there would be no repeat of last weekend's X Factor when she had to choose one of her acts to send home.

The singer said she was "devastated" to have missed the past two live programmes because of a virus which prevented her from flying out of Los Angeles.

Show bosses were left in chaos last weekend when Kelly was unable return to London because of her illness.

It followed an on-screen row with fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos, and her no-show led to speculation that she may be on the verge of quitting.

During her absence viewers put two of her acts into the sing-off, leaving Kelly to choose who should leave the show during a live phone call to the studio as she fought off her bug.

Arriving back today, she said: "I'm so happy to be back in the UK and here for my girls.

"I feel so much better for the rest I've had and am ready to get stuck in preparing for this weekend's show. I'm devastated that I missed last weekend but I'm back and raring to go."

Kelly was forced to choose whether to send home Misha Bryan or Sophie Habibis, and Sophie was sent packing on Sunday night's results show.

Another of the acts she mentors, Janet Devlin, is still in the competition.

Kelly said: "I will be working very closely with the girls this week. Janet and Misha are amazing and work extremely hard but I will be on them like white on rice this week to ensure that we don't have a repeat of last weekend."
